Kirkland is a city in King County, located on the edge of Lake Washington. The population is approximately 93,010, making it the sixth-largest city in the county and the thirteenth-largest in the state.
Kirkland was the original home of the Seattle Seahawks. Warehouse chain Costco previously had its headquarters in Kirkland. While Costco is now headquartered in Issaquah, the store brand "Kirkland Signature" owns its name to the city.
Kirkland's neighbors are Redmond, Bellevue Juanita, and to the north, Kenmore, Woodinville, and Bothell. Seattle, which is west of Kirkland, is accessible through State Highway 520.
Lake Washington School District serves Kirkland and Redmond and parts of Bothell, Woodinville, and Sammamish. The school district operates Juanita High School and Lake Washington High School.
The city's downtown waterfront has restaurants, art galleries, a performing arts center, public parks, beaches, and a collection of public art.
